A France-hosted international diplomatic conference set to be held on Jan. 15 could lead to further action against the Jewish state at the United Nations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Tuesday.

In remarks delivered to a group of Israeli ambassadors at a Foreign Ministry conference in Jerusalem, Netanyahu stated, “The Paris conference is a futile conference, but there are signs that they will try to take decisions reached there and have them become another decision at the UN Security Council. We are entering a big diplomatic effort in order to succeed in avoiding this.”

Last Friday, as reported by The Algemeiner, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations urged French President Francois Hollande to cancel the planned summit.

Mother of American Victim of Palestinian Attack Calls for International Pressure on Palestinian Authority Over Terror Payments

The mother of an American victim of a 2015 Palestinian terror attack in the West Bank issued a clarion call...

“In the aftermath of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which was a significant step backward in achieving direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, and Secretary [of State John] Kerry’s speech on Middle East peace earlier this week, the international community should not plunge forward with the ill-conceived and poorly timed Paris conference,” CPMAJO Chairman Stephen M. Greenberg and Vice Chairman and CEO Malcolm Hoenlein said in a statment. “Now is a time for serious reflection on how peace can best be achieved, not for another sham forum in which the usual one-sided outcomes against Israel are the likeliest result. Given the significant issues that were raised in the past week which have long-term implications for the prospects for peace, proper preparation after serious consultation is essential.”

In an interview with The Algemeiner last week, Hoenlein cautioned it was possible the Obama administration could — following the recent passage of the anti-Israeli settlement Security Council resolution last Friday — take a “further damaging step” against the Jewish state before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

“We need to prepare for every option,” Hoenlein said.

Expressing concern about the upcoming Paris conference, Hoenlein argued that it “could produce a document that could then be brought to the Security Council for an immediate vote.”

On Tuesday, B’nai B’rith International President Gary P. Saltzman said in a statement that the Paris conference would “provide the international community an opportunity to gratuitously gang up on Israel. The past two weeks have already seen Secretary of State John Kerry deliver a speech unfairly blaming Israel for the current impasse and the United Nations Security Council pass a resolution broadly condemning the Jewish state. The Paris summit should not take place, as it will only further embolden the Palestinians and disincentivize them to negotiate.”

Israel can also threaten to deport all arabs if sanctions are voted. Israel would have nothing to lose then which will be beneficial after all to Israel and would be almost FATAL to those hating Israel. There are lots of arguments which can HIT hard hollande and sootface banana but Netanyahu does not state them and keeps showing his fears the worse way to fight its enemies.

PS. On top of these rataliatory actions Israeli diplomats and Netanyahu could also say the un will soon blow up when the US stop financing this antisemitic org.which has no longer credibility and sanctions would not be applied. Focus should be applied on france so it feels it would pay for all of them.

  • robert Davis

These words Netanyahu keeps saying are not a proper way to fight the paris conference or any other kind of negociation. He should not show he fears the conference and rather counter attack hollande who is the main responsible of this blackmail saying Israeli diplomats will discuss with President Trump to put forward economic retaliation against France and anyway any blackmail on sanctions would be useless since ILLEGAL. hollande fears very much to br exposed as sdomeone responsible for busting the french economy and no one likes to waste his time on something which will NO result. Netanyahu does EXACTLY THE CONTRARY OF WHAT A SOUND NEGOCIATOR WOULD DO;. He keeps saying he’s very afraid and does not speak of retaliation. With a “negociator” such as Netanyahu no Wonder things turn out the wrong way.

The time for the UN to vacate their premises in New York and move to our Mongolia is long past. The actual threat to peace is the UN and Islam.

  • Efram Paul

I hope that, somehow, Netanyahu and/or Trump can postpone this Jew hating group. If not, we had best reconcile ourselves to the fact that nothing would please our evil jihadist-in-chief more than to take one final shot at his most hated country.

Threaten France and Obama as follows If you hold the conference, Israel will bar annex all of Area C, the next day.

  • Ezra

Unquestionably, the Paris conference was/is designed to vilify Israel yet again. The EU and Obama are not done with their attacks on Israel, and yes, all needs to be done to pressure Hollande to cancel or at least postpone the conference.

The sad and bitter truth as evinced by all the member orgs in the UN, UNESCO, even UNICEF, etc, and now the UN Security Council is that the UN is at heart NOW an antisemitic organization, which is so biased it cannot even RECOGNIZE that, and until Jan 20th the USA will go along.

Frankly until and unless the COMPOSITION of the UN changes, NEITHER Israel or now the USA has any place in what has become a racist organization.

That is the MORAL interest of the USA. The UN is racist, practicing the world oldest form, and the USA has no place doing anything to support it.

I would DEPEND on this French conference coming up with resolutions which functionally will be indistinguishable from those MEANT to end Israel, but with a nice veneer. I would DEPEND on the resolutions coming up INSTANTLY in the Security Council, and if this occurs on Jan 20th at 9AM, Israel is SCREWED.

All efforts should be bent on DELAY until that date. Everything else is a waste of time.

I agree. I believe that Israel should respond by taking strong unilateral action that will also be hard to undo. Such as annexing East Jerusalem and or the areas in West Bank that are already settled. Then we will have some bargaining power.

    • robert Davis

Israel will NOT br screwed because of a few sanctions almost no one will apply since it’s very easy not to apply them. After that Israel will be free to deport all “palestinians”
