At their meeting in Ramallah this week, senior Trump administration official Jared Kushner asked Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to hold off on any diplomatic initiatives against Israel for four months to give the US time to formulate a “comprehensive diplomatic plan” to revive the long-dormant peace process, Israel Hayom reported on Sunday.

A senior Palestinian official cited by Israel Hayom said the plan was supposed to “include a set timetable for the parties to discuss most of the conflict’s core issues.”

Abbas, according to the report, “agreed in principle to Kushner’s request, but asked for [President Donald] Trump’s personal guarantee and commitment to the plan and the two-state vision.”

The two agreed that Trump would meet with Abbas at the UN General Assembly gathering in New York City next month, the report went on to say.

Kushner was accompanied at Thursday’s sit-down with Abbas by Deputy National Security Adviser Dina Powell and the Trump administration’s international negotiations representative Jason Greenblatt.

An American readout said the meeting was “productive” and “focused on how to begin substantive Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.”

“Both sides agreed to continue with the US-led conversations as the best way to reach a comprehensive peace deal,” it went on to say.

Kushner, Powell and Greenblatt also met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday. That meeting, an American readout said, “continued the dialogue on advancing President Donald J. Trump’s goal of a genuine and lasting peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

“The two sides agreed that peace between Israelis and Palestinians can only be negotiated directly between those two parties and discussed substantive issues and the best way to start talks,” it noted. “Both the Americans and the Israelis acknowledged that the meeting was an important step, but that forging a lasting peace will take time.”

It looks more like submission and begging. This is what happens when” neophyte diplomats, ” make fools of themselves. Kushner must see himself as the laughing stock in this comedy.
How much did this encounter cost the American tax payer?

There are no settlements These are Jewish Homes.

Stop the nonsense Jared. They have had 100yrs to get their act together. They have nothing more to show for their behavior than 100yrs ago. If it wasn’t for international aid where would they be. They don’t even produce toilet paper!!!! BDS cannot be used against them. They produce nothing but chaos.

  • Deluding yourself after 70 years of Arab deception of peace is another mistake.
Mahmmoud Abbas aka Abu Mazen, the terrorist, convicted murderer and financier of the Munich Massacre and the Achille Lauro Cruise Ship hijacking and murder.
The Arabs received over 13 million sq. km. of territory after WWI with a wealth of oil reserves and the Arab-Palestinians have a state and that is Jordan which has taken about 80% of Jewish allocated land under international law and treaties of post WWI. The Arabs also have homes and over 46,332 square miles – 120,000 sq. km. of land the Arab countries confiscated from the over a million expelled Jewish families which is 6 times the size of Israel and valued in the trillions of dollars. The million expelled Jewish families reside now in Greater Israel
It is time to take another approach. Peace talks, not until the Arabs can prove they can control their population and live with the Jews in peaceful coexistence for at least 5 years and eliminate the education of its people to commit terror and violence and replace it with education and practice of living in harmony and coexistence. Nothing less will be accepted. It is not negotiable.
Face it there will never be a second Arab-Palestinian State west of the Jordan River; The Arab-Palestinians have Jordan which is Jewish land. The Arab-Palestinians want all of Israel without the Jews and their Charters so state.
Temple Mount in Jerusalem is Jewish territory and has been since prior to the building of the two Jewish temples (as a matter of fact King David of Israel had paid Aruna the Jebusites money to purchase that property, to avoid conflict). Israel after liberating it in 1967 graciously permitted the Arabs to continue to pray there. Now the time has come to terminate that arrangement. It is the Arabs who are defiling The Jewish holy of holies.
After years of abuse of this privilege, by committing violence and violently interfering with Jewish worshipers on a consistent basis, Israel has the right, duty and obligation to revoke that privilege.
Let us take back our sacred ground, once and for all.
I am sure the Arab-Muslim would not permit anyone in the world to build and control the holy Muslim Site in Mecca.
Let the Arab-Muslim have Mecca and the Judeo-Christian have Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.
My mother-in-law was in Auschwitz and was sent to the gas chamber in Auschwitz three times. Somehow she crawled out between the legs of others in the line and survived while losing most of her family in the Nazi extermination camps. I proudly say and practice, NEVER AGAIN. Enough is enough. Ghetto mentality of capitulation is over.
I will not and cannot cower to Arab terrorism, violence, intimidation, and threats, etc. Furthermore, I am confident no self respecting Israeli is willing to cower to terrorism and violence. To prevent such a scenario, Israel must go on an unrelenting offensive with no restrictions to claim and take back what belongs to Israel and its people. World opinion be damned. The world at large through the ages has always persecuted the Jewish People.
The time for negotiation and compromise is over, it has accomplished more terror and violence; it is time to reverse those concessions to the Radical Arab Palestinians who promote Terror and Violence. The Arab-Palestinians celebrate terrorist’s actions, finance terrorists and support their families for committing terror. Teach their Arab children hate and to commit terror and violence. Mahmmoud Abbas aka Abu Mazen is the mastermind financier of the Munich Massacre and he promotes terror and violence and invents fictitious Arab history.

JK and DJT took the sucker punch. How stupid to ask the side that is demanding a time table and a 2 state solution up front to do you a favor. HERE WE GO AGAIN. They demand and the US kapitulates and the expects Israel to go along. Then when Israel goes along and Israel puts up and the other backs out leaving Israel with yet another “GAZA” or stupid 200 to 1 prisioneer exchange or the like. JK makes a reasonable request and Abbas is making demands. The old man is dying. Hamas and PA are ar each other’s throats. And now the US wants Israel to help them out and negotiate. Go to HELL. First kill each other and the IDF will come in clean house and tske back Gaza and the whole westbank and the temple mount. Not untill then can we talk about a peace plan. (Their peace plan is to give them another big peice ofour land, Israel.)
Bibi read our lips. (No, no, no, not again. Never again, Never again, N-E-V-E-R Again !!!)

Kushner needs to learn Arabic asap and he will then realize that whatever Abbas promises always turns as the opposite.

  • nopeacenow

I suppose Abbas just smiled and said he would hold off on any anti-Israel initiatives. Of course the terrorism would continue as would the payments to terrorists and their families with daily incitement to violence and murder.

  • DACON9

Jared stop it already. Let the arabs do what ever they want and LET HASHEM TAKE OVER ALREADY. YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN G-Ds PLAN

  • Reb_Yaakov

While it’s true that direct negotiations between the two parties is necessary, there is no reason why a mediator like the U.S. should not make suggestions regarding the possible framework of a peace agreement. In fact, they should do that.

Diplomatic initiatives against Israel are outrageous and show an unwillingness to live in peace. On the other hand, settlement expansion by the Israels also has a negative effect and should be halted. What I would like to see is a willingness by the PA to stop teaching hate to children and, moreover, an attempt to reverse some of the considerable damage that has already been done in this respect.

What are settlements? There are only Jewish homes no settlements. U must be referring to Arab Squatters on Jewish land.
