JNS.org – Popular Jewish radio personality Nachum Segal returns to Houston this week for his latest round of broadcasting in the flood-stricken city, as the local Jewish community recovers from Hurricane Harvey.

In partnership with the Orthodox Union (OU), the Nachum Segal Network will broadcast all of its programming live from Houston from Sept. 6-8. The radio host previously aired his “JM in the AM” show from Houston in 2015, following that year’s Memorial Day flood in America’s fourth-largest city, which damaged about 500 Jewish homes. Hurricane Harvey is believed to have inflicted far more damage to the Jewish and broader communities than previous major floods in Houston in 2015 and 2016.

“Our brothers and sisters in Houston have gone through a terrible ordeal with so much of the community they built sitting in ruins,” Nachum Segal said in a statement. “The goal of our trip is to highlight the community, what they’ve gone through and what lays ahead of them, sharing their stories and showing them the support from their brethren around the world.”

JM in the AM’s three-hour broadcast garners approximately 100,000 listeners each weekday morning, according to the Nachum Segal Network.

“Hurricane Harvey’s toll on the Jewish community of Houston is something we need to keep in the forefront of our minds in the weeks and months ahead,” said OU President Moishe Bane. “The Orthodox Union is coordinating a significant relief effort to help the Jewish community there and by partnering with the Nachum Segal Network, we will be able to tell the story first hand of what they are going through and what help they will need to rebuild their lives there.”
