Fatah Urges ‘Angry’ Protests During Pence’s Israel Visit, Boycotts Trump Peace Team

JNS.org – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction last Saturday called for “angry” protests in Jerusalem during Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to Israel this week.
Fatah’s call came in response to President Donald Trump’s recent policy changes on Jerusalem.
“We call for angry protests at the entrances to Jerusalem and in its Old City to coincide with the visit on Wednesday of US Vice President Mike Pence and to protest against Trump’s decision,” Fatah said in a statement.
Ahead of Pence’s arrival in the region, Abbas cancelled a meeting with the vice president due to the Dec. 6 US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The Palestinian leader is also refusing to meet with Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, as well as the US administration’s international negotiations representative, Jason Greenblatt.
