JNS.org – For the second year in a row and the third year overall, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made Gallup’s annual top 10 list of the world’s most admired men.
The Israeli leader came in ninth place, with 1 percent of Americans saying they viewed him as the man living anywhere in the world who they admire most.
Despite President Donald Trump’s surprising election victory, the man and woman Americans admire most continue to be his political adversaries—former President Barack Obama and 2016 Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton.
The 2017 survey marked the 16th consecutive year that Clinton was named the most admired woman. She has held the title 22 times in total, more than anyone else. Obama has now been named the most admired man 10 times, trailing only former President Dwight Eisenhower, who earned the distinction 12 times.
Although Obama and Clinton retained their spots as the most admired man and woman in 2017, the margins were narrower than in the past. Obama edged Trump, 17 percent to 14 percent, while Clinton edged fellow former first lady Michelle Obama, 9 percent to 7 percent.
