Kira Radinsky — eBay’s Israeli director of data science — has been chosen to serve on the UN secretary-general’s newly-formed High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation.
The 20-member body will be co-chaired by Melinda Gates and Jack Ma. It is expected to author and submit a final report, including actionable recommendations, within nine months.
“As a global community, we face questions about security, equity, and human rights in a digital age,” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said. “We need greater cooperation to tackle these challenges and mitigate risks.”
Israel’s UN envoy, Danny Danon, hailed the pick of Radinsky.
“We are proud that a pioneering scientist and entrepreneur will represent Israel in this important forum,” Danon declared in a statement. “Dr. Radinsky’s appointment is yet another example of the important role played by a growing number of Israelis in the UN as we continue to contribute our knowledge and technical expertise to better the international community.”
Congratulations to Dr. Kira Radinsky, eBay’s Director of Data Science, for her selection to the @UN’s High-Level Panel on #DigitalCooperation! We will continue to promote the inclusion of Israelis at the UN. pic.twitter.com/aa4xWtJaEO
