Cornell University is home to some 3,000 Jewish students, who make up over 20 percent of the undergraduate population. The school's Hillel says it supports over 30 students groups — from the Russian Jewish Club to the Chai Notes a capella group — while the Chabad center offers regular Shabbat dinners, religious services, and shabbaton trips. The Cornell Tech campus in New York City — officially dedicated in September — is also home to the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, a major academic partnership between Cornell and the Technion — Israel Institute of Technology. Unsurprisingly, Cornell SJP has spoken out against the venture and vowed to renew its efforts to target Israel on campus, including by boycotting Sabra Hummus. The group also crashed a Hillel-sponsored Israeli Independence Day event in May, where some 20 SJP members staged a disruptive "die-in" and accused Israel of committing genocide.
