Jewish human rights group the Simon Wiesenthal Center warned Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Tuesday that the radical terror group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a threat to Netherlands’ Jewry.

The warning came in a letter sent four days after protesters at an ISIS rally in The Hague called for the murder of Jews.

“The ISIS rally in The Hague, the Netherlands capital and seat of government, openly promises death to the Jews of Holland and beyond   – a genocidal intent to be taken very seriously,” Shimon Samuels, the Center’s director for International Relations, said in the letter. “Unless Jihadism in your country is totally quashed, Dutch returnees from their Syrian baptism of fire and Jihadist websites at home will menace Jewish, Muslim and all other citizens of the Netherlands.”

A video of the July 4 demonstration posted to YouTube shows a group presenting themselves as ISIS and chanting in favor of killing Jews. The clip was filmed and distributed by a local website.

In Samuels’ letter, he stressed that “the screams, in the clip of ‘Khaybar, Khaybar, Jews, Jews, Muhammed’s army is coming for you!’ recall the Prophet’s supposed massacre of the Jews who rejected his call to Islam; often linked to the battle cry, ‘Din Muhammed b’il Seif’ (‘The Religion of Muhammed is the Sword’).”

The Center said it was “horrified” to discover that The Hague Mayor Jozias van Aartsen granted permission for the rally to take place. Samuels said, “The demonstrators were not, as claimed, human rights activists on behalf of Dutch detained Jihad recruiter, Oussama Abu Yazeed.  They were filmed waving the Tawheed banner of ISIS and should have been subject to immediate arrest for incitement to violence.”

Samuels noted that  ISIS is currently ravaging Syria and Iraq, but “The Caliphate dream stretches into Europe.” It will not be long until the terrorist group extends its reach outside of the Middle East, he said. He noted that the Netherlands’ Jewish community is already a fraction of what it once was following the Nazi occupation of the country.

“Jihadi terrorism may first target the Jews, but Western democracy is its designated strategic victim. Its voracious appetite is not limited to the Middle East,” Samuels said.

Samuels urged authorities in The Netherlands to shut down all ISIS-related activities both in public and in cyberspace.

He also pointed out that the perpetrators of the infamous Toulouse Jewish school and the Brussels Jewish Museum killings, Mohammed Mehra and Mehdi Nemmouche, were both “driven by just such brainwashing as Jihadi interns in Syria.”
