JNS.org – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered Kulanu Party leader Moshe Kahlon the Foreign Ministry portfolio on Sunday, reported Israel’s Channel 13. The two, who have not met since the April 9 election, are expected to convene on Thursday.

Kahlon served as finance minister in the outgoing unity government, and it has been speculated that he is intent on retaining that role.

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin tapped Netanyahu last week to form the next governing coalition, which he will have to do within 28 days, though Rivlin may grant a 14-day extension if necessary.

The right-wing bloc is expected to consist of the Likud, Kulanu, Yisrael Beitenu, Shas and United Torah Judaism parties—a 65-seat majority in the 120-seat Knesset.
