A pro-Israel graphic posted to Facebook on Tuesday by Dr. Faisal al-Qasim, an al- Jazeera television host, has gone viral in the Arab world. The post compares the international community’s focus on Gaza to the world’s inaction when it comes to destruction happening in Syria.
The flier, which was created by activist Phlippe Assouline, shows two aerial photographs side by side picturing the relatively calm Gaza City as compared with the rubble that is Homs, Syria.
Echoing a question he’s asked on al-Jazeera, al-Qasim wrote on Facebook, “In Syria, Assad has killed more than 120,000 Syrians, and made millions homeless, with no one calling for a boycott, or the surge in international universities against his regime, and no one sends ships to lift the blockade on the besieged areas of Syria. Imagine: Even Israel is jealous of this international complicity with Assad.”
On Tuesday, the Facebook post already had 20,200 likes.
